Hey everybody....
Right now I'm in Bangkok for the third day and so far it's ... amazing... So the flight from Munich to Dubai was ok a bit bumpy but nothing exciting... o yes before i forget, Mausi I watched Cheri on the plane... well the guy is very cute, but the movie itself... not really special :)
At the Bangkok Airport the next day I waited an hour at the passport control... and I think this is not usual I just chose the wrong line... well so I was very sorry because Fern, Dom's sister had to wait for me quite a long time... but she finally found me and she and her friend took me to town and to real thai dinner... very spicy but I actually liked everthing :)
Then I went to Khao San Road to find accomodation... this is really really crazy... festival feeling... a road full of people (thai and farang=foreigners) so much food you wouldn't believe everything was eaten... although there are so many people and party mood everywhere... amazing... the two girls and me went to have a thai beer... singha in a bar called "de hippie bar" very nice and only thai.
my hostel was ok...
the next day a Tuktuk driver actually found me and told me, the Grand Palace is closed for the morning but for 20 baht he would take me around to see some other temples and buddhas.. and of course i agreed... (50 baht = 1 euro)... that evening i was told that they tell you that to take you to places where you buy things and they get a comission... well i saw some nice temples and i went to a tailor... let's see if a nice suit is brought home :)
At noon I went to a weekend market - Chatuchak... (let's saz 35 degrees) that is even more crazy... you can buy EVERYTHING there it is very noisy and a lot of people but very impressive... after that Fern and her friend took me to a floating market outside of Bangkok (by car)... Amphawa... there were almost no tourists and again so much food... so I tried some things... I'm not even sure what all of them were, but nothing tasted bad.... only a drink with green glibbery things in it... I have no idea what that was... but I'll put pictures online (I forgot the cable in the youth hostel... next time)...
so yesterday evening I was invited to have dinner with friends of my parents... this house is rather beautiful :). we watched a movie that night ("Alles begann mit Himbeergeist..." Qualtinger)
and today I finally had my first thai massage... it's very nice but nothing for sissies I'd say ;) sometimes it hurts a bit ... after that i went to the Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Pho and Wat Arun.... just stunning... I saw the "Emerald Buddha" and the "Reclining Buddha"... wonderful... but also exhausting... again rather hot today ;)
after that I went on a boat tour on the Chao Phraya River... nice but not very exciting...
and now I'm getting ready to go to Chiang Mai with the overnight train... I booked some trekking and a boat to Laos... I'm going to be in Luang Prabang on the 11th of november...
oh yes i have a thai phone number: +66838071172... if somebody is in desperately in need to talk to me :D!! I have no idea when I'll have the chance to write again, so take care everybody and :*:*:*
